Discoloration of silver or aluminium items after washing in the dishwasher
Issue
- Discoloration of silver or aluminium items after washing in the dishwasher
Applies to
- dishwashers
Resolution
1. Do not wash silver or aluminum items in the dishwasher.
Aluminum and silver items can turn black due to air, sulfur, and water reacting.
- When these items are washed, black deposits are left on other items, the baskets, and the inside of the dishwasher.
- Some silver items only have a thin coating of silver and are not recommended for washing in the dishwasher.
