Washing machine displays "CLE" - drum cleaning reminder
Issue
- "CLE" appears on the Washing Machine display at the end of the cycle
- “CLE" appears on the Washing Machine display after turning it ON.
Applies to
- Top loading washing machines
- Slim front-loading washing machines
- Front loading washing machines
Resolution
The message ‘CLE’ indicates that it’s time to run a Drum Cleaning cycle. It appears on your washing machine’s display every 60 wash cycles as a reminder to clean the drum.
This is a maintenance cycle to extend the life of the Washing Machine and prevent the build-up of mildew and odour in the appliance.
To clear the message, run a Cotton wash cycle at 90°C (or 95°C on selected models) without any laundry inside.
IMPORTANT: The “CLE” message is only a reminder. You can continue using the machine normally even if you don’t perform the Drum Clean cycle.
However, the reminder will continue to appear at the end of each wash cycle or at every start-up until the Drum Clean cycle is completed.
Drum Cleaning Cycle – Recommendations
To maintain your washing machine’s performance and hygiene, follow these steps when running the Drum Cleaning cycle:
- Do not add any laundry to the drum.
- Add a small amount of detergent directly into the detergent compartment.
- Select a Cotton cycle at 90°C (or 95°C on selected models).
Once the Drum Cleaning cycle is complete, the “CLE” reminder will disappear. It will not reappear until another 60 wash cycles have been completed.
We recommend specialized cleaning detergents available on our Webshop.
