The dryer's cycle is taking too long

Issue

  • The dryer's cycle is taking too long

Resolution

1. Check if the device is heating up:

  • Firstly, clean the device and then start a timed cycle of at least 120 minutes without a load.
  • After an hour, open the door and check if the drum is hot inside (with at least 20 minutes remaining on the display).
  • If the inside of the drum is hot, the heating system is working. In tumble dryers equipped with a heat pump, you can often hear noises from the appliance when it stops.
  • If the appliance is not hot after an hour of operation, we recommend requesting a service engineer visit.

2. Check if your product is connected to a socket or to an earthed outlet.

  • Your device must be connected to a socket or to an earthed outlet
  • If the appliance is not grounded, the measuring system will not function correctly and the appliance may 'decide' that the clothes are dry at the wrong time.
  • If the device is not grounded, there is a risk of electric shock.

3. Check if the ambient temperature is between 5°C and 35°C.

  • If the ambient temperature is too low or too high, it is possible that the dryer may not function properly.
  • Place the dryer in a room with a suitable temperature.
  • If the dryer is located in a room, make sure that the room temperature is between 5 °C and 35 °C.
  • If the room temperature does not fall within this range, it is possible that the dryer may not function properly and may not heat up.
  • Heat the room where the tumble dryer is located until it reaches a suitable temperature or move the dryer to another room that is at a suitable temperature.

4. Try to adjust the residual humidity level.

  • In many models, the residual moisture level can be adjusted.
  • You will find information on how to adjust this setting in the user manual, if your device has this feature.
  • Download the user manual
  • If you set the device to a line, the program cycle will be extended, and the clothes will be drier by the end of the cycle.

5. Dryers equipped with a heat pump provide very gentle and energy-efficient drying at a low temperature (max. 54°C), but the drying time will be somewhat longer than that of high-energy-consuming appliances.

This is normal and not a fault in any way.

  • With these devices, it may seem that the appliance does not heat up for a long period at the beginning of a drying cycle. This is because all the energy of the heat pump is used for heating and evaporating the water/moisture from the clothes. Simply let the appliance run through the selected cycle until the desired drying results have been achieved depending on the chosen cycle and options.
  • Opening the door during a cycle to check the clothes will extend the cycle by at least half an hour each time the door is opened. This is because the heat pump takes a long time to reach maximum working pressure in the heating system.
  • Some models have a quick dry cycle with a shorter drying time. You can use this cycle if you don't have time to wait for the normal drying cycle to finish. Using this program increases energy consumption and noise level, as the heat pump will operate at maximum power and speed throughout the drying cycle.

6. Spinners, weavers and drying frames:

  • First, check the user manual to see if your device is suitable for drying pillows, cushions, and duvets.

Caution: if not suitable, there is a risk that the device may overheat and be damaged.

  • If your device is suitable for drying pillows, cushions, and duvets, set the program for drying pillows/cushions/duvets according to the user manual.
  • For instance, if the pillows are not completely dry inside after drying, you can use a cycle to finish the drying process. (More than 10 minutes, because the last 10 minutes of cycles consist of cooling without heat.)

7. Drying clothes on the washing line:

  • If you want to finish drying clothes that are almost dry, you can use a timed cycle (over 10 minutes, because the last 10 minutes of cycles consist of cooling without heat).
  • Automatic drying cycles cannot be used for clothing that is only slightly damp.

8. Check if the filters and condenser are clean.

  • If the filters, condenser and/or heat exchanger are dirty, this could be the reason why the car is not heating up.
  • Consult the user manual for information on cleaning and maintaining the device.
  • Filters may look clean, but still be blocked.
  • You can check the filters by holding them up to the light or under the tap and seeing if water can flow through them.
  • If water doesn't pass through the filters, clean them and check again.
  • If the water continues not to pass through the filters, replace them.
  • Filters and accessories are available through the web store.

If the above does not solve the problem, request a visit from a service engineer.

To help you accurately determine the nature of the problem, we recommend visiting one of our authorised engineers to inspect the device and remedy the issue.

Attention: we do not recommend using the product until the issue has been fully resolved. Disconnect the product and do not reconnect it until you are certain it is safe to do so.

Cause

1. If you notice that the dryer is not drying satisfactorily, there are a number of possible causes.

  • For the best results, with reduced energy consumption, the machine should be cleaned regularly and you should use the correct cycle and options for the type of clothing you wish to dry.
  • It is important that clothes are sorted and dried according to the type of garment when using electronic cycles.
  • For certain types of clothing (for example, with very thick seams), additional drying may be necessary after a timed drying cycle (more than 10 minutes, as the last 10 minutes of the cycle consist of cooling without heat).
