Any discolouration of the hob can be dealt with by cleaning the surface with which can be found in the

Apply a few drops of the Vitro Care Hob Cleaner to the surface
Use a piece of kitchen towel and rub it over the surface of the mark
As the mark gradually disappears it will appear as a grey mark on the kitchen towel
Repeat as necessary
